Naver is reportedly working on Samsung’s own Exynos soc for the Galaxy S25 series, which should be comparable to Apple’s Bionic A-series processors. According to anonymous sources, the South Korean tech giant has assembled a team of around 1,000 employees. The ‘Deam Platform One Team’ for the chip, which will be found in Samsung devices for the first time in 2025, would make an announcement very soon.
Of course, Samsung has been producing its own Exynos chips for certain markets for years. These chips are based on the technologies of other technology giants; After a long-standing agreement with Arm, Samsung recently switched to AMD’s rdna architecture. Despite their collaboration, Samsung’s Exynos chips are regularly criticized; According to critics, the chips could not compete with their Snadragon equivalents.
This is why Samsung plans to continue using Snapdragon socs for the Galaxy S23 and S24 as their Exynos Bionic A equivalents are still in development. It is unknown whether details about the platform will be released at the time of the alleged announcement this summer. It is also unclear whether the team, which spans multiple internal departments, is also collaborating with AMD.
For now Samsung and AMD are still working together by making rdna 2 architecture for Exynos socs.
