A group of New York scientists have discovered a way to recycle CDs with an economical and useful method. The discovery was made in direct proportion to the removal of electronic waste. The research team devised a system to convert CDs into biosensors in the medical field. E-waste stands for gold mines that are not always reclaimed and then wasted.

The researchers then tried to extract the thin metal layer from the CDs by separating it from the plastic. Then they made the electronic tools with an economical and mechanical cutter. After understanding the properties of the metal, wearable biosensors. Compatibility with human cells and the ability to perform measurements were verified. Biosensors are electronic devices useful for controlling the heart and other muscles for: blood detection of oxygen, sugar and lactate. In addition, also for measuring the pH of the blood and the body temperature. Data communication takes place via smartphone with Bluetooth.

The sensors are, in addition to their efficiency, optimized in terms of time and costs. The production cycle takes half an hour and costs about one and a half dollars per biosensor. A way to dispose of electronic materials through recycling without special skills and without high costs. There is talk of research that has dealt with gold CDs, but the research will also be done on the more common silver CDs. The goal is to recycle CDs, but also to make biosensors cheap and accessible for an ever-growing audience.
