Soon it will finally be possible edit messages sent on whatsapp, as is already possible on many competing messaging applications. The novelty was already discovered by some previous leaks, but a new clue suggests that the change of the messages is now really close.

In the past, the various developers and tipster active on WhatsApp had already shared some screenshots showing how message editing works on iOS and Android, the two major mobile operating systems. Newly, the feature was also first discovered on a beta version of WhatsApp for desktop.

The function, as they say in the jargon, is still silent. It’s there programmatically, but it’s not seen and hasn’t been officially activated yet.

In WhatsApp beta 2.22.20.12 for Android, a new update has been discovered that allows the application to update messages with the latest modified version. To be clear, this is a feature that is still under development. We don’t know when it will be available to everyone, in the stable version of the app, but clue after clue seems clear that it is now a matter of very little time. Perhaps by the end of 2022.
