The smartphone market he’s in deep trouble again. Only two brands are smiling: Apple, which never seems to have a crisis, and Huawei, the Chinese brand that is doing everything it can to return from the kingdom of the dead (but the road is still long).

They are just over in the third quarter of 2022 300 million smartphones shipped. This is a decrease of 7.6% year-on-year, but slightly more (+2.5%) than the previous quarter. The data comes from Omdiaa leading company in industry analysis.

Apple shipped 52.2 million iPhones. An increase of 6.7% from the previous quarter and 2.6% year-on-year. It is the only company, along with Huawei, to report annual growth. However, the figure is moderate compared to the company’s expectations. Keep in mind that Apple launched the new iPhone 14 in September, which could have a positive effect on deliveries in the last quarter of 2022.

Huawei he started from a situation of deep disadvantage. The US government sanctions have put it on the sidelines of the smartphone market, but the former(?) Chinese giant plans to return to the center and challenge everything and everyone. Huawei closed the quarter with growth of 34.4% on a quarterly basis and 48.3% yoy. It has shipped 8.6 million smartphones around the world, which is enough to take 3% of the global market share. The road back to the top – where it was before the sanctions – is still very long.

Everyone else has done pretty badly. Samsung it closed the quarter with a 7.4% year-over-year decline. Xiaomi confirms itself as the third largest producer in the world, but deliveries have decreased by more than 11 points compared to the third quarter of 2021. opposite reports an even bigger decline: -18.9%. I livewith 25.3 million units delivered, the quarter ended with a decline of 22.4%. Honour makes a -2.1%, realme -11.7% e Motorola -10.3%.
