In addition to streaming, users will soon be able to live stream via Netflix, the company says, according to Deadline. With this feature, any show can be broadcast live and users can participate by voting, for example, during a talent show. It is not yet clear when the new feature will be released; only a small team is currently working on this feature.

Netflix is not the first streaming service to work with a live streaming concept. For example, Disney+ broadcast Dancing With the Start live in the United States. To be precise, the TV show was therefore also broadcast linearly via the streaming service; this is ironic as the streaming craze should replace linear television. In the case of Netflix, the interactive element would therefore be an enriching factor.

Where the interaction isn’t very relevant, but where live streaming is essential, is in the sports category. According to Deadline, Netflix isn’t yet looking for ways to stream sports matches via its live streaming service, which could be a missed opportunity.
