Samsung has revealed more details about its upcoming Odyssey Neo G8 and Neo G7 gaming monitors. Both models have 32 inch diagonal screen and 4k uhd resolution. Neo G8 provides 240 Hz refresh rate and the panel is mini LED backlit va type. The Neo G7 has to do with a brightness of 165 Hz and lower.

Odyssey Neo G8 with Mini LED

The Odyssey Neo G8 is a smaller version of the current G9 (49 inches) and has the same 1000R curvature. Like the ultra-bright G9, the Neo G8 offers mini-LED backlighting with peak brightness of up to 2,000 cd/m². The LEDs are distributed over 1,196 zones. Unlike the G9, the aspect ratio of the screen is 16:9.

In terms of connections, we see HDMI 2.1 twice and displayport 1.4 once. The use of Video Stream Compression (DSC) is almost certainly viable to take advantage of the high bandwidth required for 4k at 240Hz.

According to Samsung, the monitor will be available in the ‘second quarter’. A price has not been announced yet.

Odyssey Neo G7 has 165 Hz

Samsung has made the Odyssey Neo G7 similar to the G8, but the monitor should not have a mini LED backlight and has a lower refresh rate of 165 Hz. The brightness is therefore half as bright, with a maximum of 1,000 cd/m². The back of the Neo G8 has a white design, while the Neo G7 is all black. Both models are AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certified and Nvidia G-Sync compatible.

Pricing and availability information is not yet available, but the Neo G7 should be cheaper.
