The Snoopy face of the Apple Watch is very dynamic. There are all kinds alternative animations Over time, some of these are accomplished through specific actions, such as when the Apple Watch uses always-on display mode.
“It has a layering engine that can rotate certain animations by six degrees per minute, as well as a Snoopy decision engine that determines when the best time to view animations is without too much repetition.”
There was an engineering team There are a lot of problems getting Snoopy animations to work “from all angles”. One of the team members even claimed that after the first meeting with Apple, he didn’t even know if he was smart enough to wear an Apple Watch.
Snoopy orb animations include up to 12 minutes of animation
This first meeting was apparently the engineering team’s first meeting after working remotely after the pandemic.
Apple’s human interface designer Gary Butcher shared some very interesting details about the meeting:
“I’m normally a very organized person. I felt like we had limited time to spend together, so I brought 148 pieces of blank paper, thinking we should fill out all the papers and leave the room. At the end of the day, we had ‘I didn’t touch the papers, but there were piles of sketches drawn on the table.’
Eric Charles from Apple’s product marketing unit said it was interesting how Snoopy was able to bring together the audience that grew up with him and the new generation that just met him.
Someone high up at Apple must be very fond of the beloved animated character, because it’s also quite common for the company to release a free episode of Snoopy on Apple TV+ every year, especially around Christmas.
