There steam deck turns out to be a decidedly versatile console. Valve’s device can now be used to play games from the Xbox Game Passusing the Xbox Cloud Gaming feature.
Thanks to Microsoft, which updated its service making it compatible with Linux systems (like the Steam Deck, in fact). There is no official app yet, but you can access the catalog of Xbox Cloud Gaming using the beta version of the browser Edge for Linux
Microsoft has created a special support page during these hours, which explains step-by-step how to play Xbox titles on the Steam Deck.
It must be said that installing the Edge beta on the console is not exactly easy and requires more than a few steps. The user must by the Discover Software Center from SteamOS and then download Edge. Technically, it’s already possible to install Windows on the Steam Deck, which simplifies compatibility with Microsoft’s cloud a bit. In theory at least, because in practice SteamOS should run significantly better than Windows on the console.
In the past, Gabe Newell said he was more than willing to evaluate some form of integration of the Game Pass with Steam, Valve’s marketplace, with Microsoft. Who knows, the future may hold other surprises.
