Researchers from Sechenov University have developed a new cream based on carnosine for the treatment of vitiligo. At this time, the scientists began their preclinical work.
Vitiligo is an oxidative skin discoloration disorder characterized by the appearance of colorless, usually symmetrically arranged, milky-white patches. Although the disease is not dangerous for health, it causes psychological disorders in many people.
Treatment of vitiligo, which affects 4% of the Russian population, is a very laborious process and includes a number of physiotherapy methods and various drugs that must be selected individually for the patient.
Previously, a locally developed antioxidant was not used in the treatment of vitiligo. The cream, created by Russian scientists, serves to prevent the progression of the disease – it prevents the appearance of new spots.
