Turkish FLO Retailing and Middle East Daher Group are negotiating the purchase of the Russian network Adidas with a German company. The deal is expected to close in the fall, Vedomosti learned.

FLO Retaling and Daher Group consider buying Russian Adidas stores

Adidas is considering two scenarios. In the first case, the stores can be rebranded in such a way that they retain the association with the brand, as Alshaya Group did with the Mothercare stores, they now function as Motherbear and will sell the original products brought in by parallel imports.

In the second case, the restart of the network can occur in the Inditex format, when completely new brands are opened, unrelated to the Spanish one, instead of Zara, Bershka, Pull & Bear, the consultants pointed out.

  • In March 2022, the German brand announced the suspension of operations in Russia and the temporary closure of retail stores. In the fall, the company decided to reduce business in the country.
  • In the third quarter of 2022, Adidas lost 100 million euros due to the suspension of operations in Russia. According to the results of the second quarter, the company also registered a loss of 100 million euros for the same reason.
