Cortana virtual assistant has been completely discontinued in Windows 11. Microsoft has already discontinued the tool in the operating system in the new software update. Three years ago, its app was already disabled on both iOS and Android.

Microsoft sets up Windows Copilot to replace the virtual assistant. The new sidebar is built with Bing Chat to answer user questions and control settings.

The new tool should reach everyone with a Windows 11 update between September and December. Anyone trying to use Cortana until then will be warned that the assistant has been fired.. A link describing the change also appears.

Later this year, Microsoft will also end support for Cortana in Teams and Teams Display and Teams Rooms. The digital assistant will only have one job in Outlook for mobile.

Cortana was introduced by Microsoft in 2014 on the old Windows Phone. It came to Windows 10 in 2015, it could take voice commands, show reminders and open apps. But competition from competitors like Alexa and Google Assistant was too much for artificial intelligence, which was left behind and faced with the company’s many failures.
