The announcement follows criticism from Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney and Spotify, who expressed concerns about upcoming changes to the App Store in the European Union.

Apple has proposed a new “core technology dashboard” for apps that want to run on third-party app stores in the EU.

Developers using third-party app stores will have to pay €0.50 for each annual app installation after reaching 1 million downloads.

Additionally, Apple will still charge 17% to developers who choose third-party payment methods.

Xbox head Sarah Bond, who is now responsible for all Xbox platform and hardware operations at Microsoft, said she hoped Apple would take feedback on the proposed plan and work towards a more inclusive future for everyone.

Microsoft is aiming to launch its own Xbox mobile store, which could open as early as this year.

The Xbox Mobile Store is being developed as an alternative to the dominance of Apple and Google’s mobile game stores and will be supported by content from Activision Blizzard, including popular mobile games such as Call of Duty: Mobile and Candy Crush Saga.
