Bitkom Consumer Technologies President Sebastian Kloss emphasizes the central role of the smartphone in our lives. It has become more than just a phone. The survey confirms this, showing that Germans spend an average of 2.5 hours a day connected to their devices.

This figure increases significantly in younger segments of the population: people aged 16-29 spend an average of 182 minutes per day.

Interestingly, the study revealed changes in smartphone usage. While voice searches were their main target initially, they now play a secondary role. The average daily search duration is just 29 minutes, and young people surprisingly take longer to search than their older counterparts.

The study does not avoid potential downsides. More than half of those surveyed admitted that their friendships had worsened due to smartphone addiction. Additionally, 83% of respondents admitted that they cannot imagine life without a smartphone.
