Users’ sensitive information can now be sent to Samsung without their knowledge. The fact is that Samsung has reserved the right to confiscate some parts of users’ smartphones during repairs.

Journalists from 404 Media studied the agreement that independent service centers sign with Samsung. He says service center specialists must suspend service if it is determined that the device was previously repaired with third-party parts that the company did not produce.
If this happens, a specialist from the service center will need to disassemble the smartphone, mark the non-original part and immediately inform Samsung. Journalists say that this greatly complicates the process of repairing devices and that the company itself violates the laws.
Service center employees believe that customers who contact the service center do not even imagine that their confidential information could be sent to Samsung without their knowledge.
In addition, according to Keith Walsh, a lawyer at the Electronic Freedom Foundation, users have the right to use non-original parts when repairing their smartphones. He also noted that Samsung’s agreement with the service center in the United States completely contradicts the federal law on warranty service, which will come into force this year.
