9to5Google writes that the app’s popularity stems from its “extensive capabilities,” including photo editing. Google Photos also offers AI features like Magic Editor and Magic Eraser.
While Google Photos comes as the default media app on most post-2017 Android devices, it competes with other pre-installed gallery apps from manufacturers like OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi, and Samsung.
Google Photos now joins a group of Google-developed apps with more than 10 billion downloads, including Drive, Chrome, Gmail, Maps and YouTube.
