The Telecom Daily agency conducted a study of the development of voice over LTE (VoLTE) technologies in Russia.
For reference, VoLTE uses the frequency band of LTE networks for voice transmission. The quality of the call is estimated at 20%, it is assigned to call the interlocutor 1.8 seconds faster, the two-way delay is set to 45 milliseconds.
According to the agency’s search, MegaFon customers across the country can already use VoLTE: a system for capturing 82 regions. The data is current as of June 2022.
We always offer quality services, so we pay great attention not only to building our own privacy, but also to improving accessibility. So, last year we launched the first federal VoLTE network in 82 regions of the country, and at the beginning of this year we launched an invitation and a conference of telephone numbers in international roaming.
We see that the number of our subscribers using VoLTE is actively growing: in less than a year, it has increased by 54%. To date, voice traffic in LTE already accounts for about 40% of the consumption in classical types of communication. In the future, this figure will exceed the share of all traffic, as, for example, in Moscow, where the technology share is already almost 60%.

Telecom conducts daily qualitative measurements in ten cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Ufa, Saratov, Samara, Rostov-on-Don, Voronezh, Tula, Volgograd. MegaFon showed a positive positive reaction to reviews – 4.31 out of 5, also a pronounced positive reaction – 4.45.
Telephony services mean the ability to quickly and successfully reach the interlocutor, hear intelligible speech without distortion and independently separate the telephone conversation (without disconnecting the connection). Quality assessment is carried out both through quantitative measurements with data on the technical and consumer properties of services, and through subjective tests.
