In June 2024, 17% of new iPhone buyers came from Android devices, nearly double the 10% in June 2023.

Despite the seemingly good news for Apple, CIRP believes that one of the reasons for the relatively weak sales of the iPhone 15 could be the increase in conversions.

Android users may be looking for a new device with a new operating system at a competitive price without needing Apple’s latest and most expensive models, which could lead to lower sales of the latest iPhone models.

Additionally, the increase in Android migration may indicate a decline in upgrades among existing iPhone users, which was previously a source of strength for the company.

The second quarter of 2024 saw the highest percentage of migrations from Android since 2017, when that figure reached 21%.
