“Access to the Discord messenger is limited due to violation of Russian legislation. <...> Currently there are no reasons to unblock Discord,” RKN press service told RB.RU.

Previously, several media outlets and Telegram channels reported that Roskomnadzor’s log no longer contained records of banned materials on the Discord website, suggesting that the platform could be unblocked in Russia. In particular, Vedomosti wrote that “the Discord platform removed all illegal materials at the request of Roskomnadzor.”

The RKN suggested that this is due to the peculiarities of searching for information in the registry. “When using the system for searching for material in the Unified Register of Prohibited Information of Roskomnadzor, it is necessary to enter in the search bar the link (address) of a specific page with a violation, and not the domain name of the entire service “said the department.

Roskomnadzor blocked Discord on October 8 for publishing “illegal information” and non-compliance with requirements, “the implementation of which is necessary to prevent threats to use the messenger for terrorist and extremist purposes, recruiting citizens to commit them and selling drugs.” Previously, users complained massively about service failures that were observed, in particular, on September 19 and 26.

The head of the State Duma Information Policy Committee, Alexander Khinshtein, stated that Discord will be able to resume its work in Russia if the administration of the service meets the requirements of Russian legislation.
