MTS conducted an analysis of fraudulent calls during the Black Friday period.
According to experts from the MTS Defender service, from November 24 to December 1, the number of such calls in Russia increased 3 times compared to the same period last year.
The maximum activity of scammers was observed from November 29 to December 1, when about 70% of all unwanted calls were received on these days. Then the scammers started calling longer. While calls usually come from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., during the promotion period they continued until 8 p.m.
We always prepare intensively for sales and holidays, since it is during these periods that scammers are more active than usual in trying to reach Russians by phone.
This Black Friday, 92% of unwanted calls were made via phone calls and only 8% via instant messaging. Government, we block some of these calls, but attackers are constantly looking for new schemes, so it is recommended to use special services for protection and be more vigilant.

The largest number of calls were recorded in:
► Moscow: 29%
► St. Petersburg: 15%
► Kazan: 7%
The most common fraud scheme in the “Black Section” was the offer of exclusive discounts and goods with guaranteed delivery for pensioners and other beneficiaries from representatives of well-known online stores.
