Since the beginning of 2023, Russian courts have imposed 620 fines totaling 25.8 million rubles on people whom the Ministry of Justice recognized as foreign agents, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation reported. Of them, 4 million rubles were paid or recovered voluntarily.

As the Judicial Department of the Supreme Court reported to TASS, in 2023 the courts of Russia adopted 368 decisions imposing fines under the article on violation of the procedure for the activities of a foreign agent in a total amount of 15 million 172 thousand rubles.
In the first half of 2024, another 252 fines worth 10 million 641 thousand rubles were imposed under this article.
According to judicial statistics, in 471 cases natural persons were brought to justice, in 70 cases legal persons and in 67 cases officials of organizations. In five cases, foreign citizens received a fine.
At the end of December 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law introducing special accounts for foreign agents. According to the document, the income of a person recognized as a foreign agent must be credited to a special account, from where money can be recovered for the obligations of a person or organization in favor of the State.
