The Ministry of Digital Development has approved a list of programs for mandatory placement in the RuStore application store. It includes only four applications: “Public Services”, “Public Services Culture”, “Public Services Auto” and “Public Services. Let’s decide together.”
The list was approved on August 1 and published on the legal information website. It will enter into force on September 1, 2022.
On July 21, the agency published a decree on mandatory pre-installation of RuStore on all smartphones manufactured in EAEU countries from 2023.
RuStore is a Russian app store for Android, developed by the Ministry of Digital Development and VK amid news about the possible termination of Google Play in Russia. The platform launched on May 25.
In mid-July, VK said that the most popular on the RuStore are financial apps, accounting for more than 50% of all downloads. The leader in the number of downloads was Sberbank Online, it was installed more than 256 thousand times.
