More than half of Russians (52%) experience discomfort during interviews, a third (31%) feel safe, and 17% experience severe stress, according to a study by educational platform Skillbox.

Respondents also named the 5 most annoying interview questions:

  2. Why did you leave your previous job?
  3. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
  4. “Why do you want to work with us?”,
  5. “Tell me about your strengths and weaknesses.”

Among other popular and unloved questions from Russians: “what is your zodiac sign?” and “what salary do you expect?” Men are more likely than women to be dissatisfied with the issue of salary expectations: 19% vs. 11%.

Alexandra Nechaeva, head of the psychology department at Skillbox, points out that there are two ways to prepare for unpleasant questions: “The first option is to find a list of questions and answers on the Internet, adapt it to yourself and conduct it in front of a mirror or a test. dude. <...> Another option: courses or consultations with HR experts, where they analyze the mechanics to strengthen themselves as a potential candidate.

The study also showed that the majority (75%) prepare for interviews: 24% rehearse answers in advance, 51% study the vacancy and the employer’s requirements. A quarter do not prepare for interviews at all and rely on their improvisation skills.

More than 1,200 respondents across Russia between the ages of 18 and 55 participated in the survey.
