Yandex’s Swiss subsidiary, Intertech Services AG, has filed a statement mentioning the Yandex Hub smart home hub. The gateway will be used for smart home technology.
The Zigbee protocol is used for connections over distances of 10 to 100 m, it can be used to combine devices from different manufacturers, Kommersant learned.
Yandex declined to comment on the information about the device: “We will come back with details when they become available.”
Now the speakers are used to control the home Wi-Fi, only Yandex Station 2 supports Zigbee out of the box. At the same time, Yandex does not have its own smart light bulbs, switches, sockets and other peripherals with Zigbee in its assortment; instead, the company offers devices from the Chinese Aqara.
