A picture from satellite company GHGSat shows gas flowing over the Baltic Sea off the Swedish coast. Methane leaked from the single break point of Nord Stream 2, one of the two pipelines connecting Russia and Germany.

It leaks 79,000 kg of gas per hour from the explosion. It is the “largest single-source outlier” ever detected by GHGSat.

It is stated that methane is a greenhouse gas and its release into the atmosphere means that it can exacerbate climate change.
