WhatsApp is working on new features to improve photo sharing. Features that appear to be inherited from Instagram, a social network also owned by Meta. According to wabetainfothe messaging platform will allow you to change the text style and add new items to image editing section that appears before the photo is sent to the chat.

WhatsApp, in particular, will add up to three new features to its image editor, starting with the ability to choose up to 7 font styles different. The application will also include text alignment button and move it to the left, center, or right, as well as another action to include background in text. We reiterate that these are features that are already available in Instagram Stories and will allow the user to have more control over editing when sending images to their friends or family via WhatsApp.

The platform is also working on the ability to send images without losing quality. The application will show a button at the bottom of the image editor to select the resolution.. This way, if the user has a limited connection but needs to send an image, they can choose a lower resolution, or otherwise choose a higher quality and thus avoid the compression that WhatsApp itself does.

WhatsApp is also working on a native Mac app with the M1.

Both new features for the image editor, as well as the ability to share photos in the highest quality, are currently in development and will be implemented in a future update. They will appear, first of all, in the beta phase.

WhatsApp, on the other hand, is also set to launch its own Mac version with Apple Silicon. This will make the app open faster than the current version and consume less resources. The native version of WhatsApp for those Macs with M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra, M2, M2 Pro, and M2 Max chips also gets a design more tailored to the style of the WhatsApp iOS app.

This version is currently in beta testing and can be downloaded from the WhatsApp website.
