Senators Mark Warner and Marco Rubio reached out to company founder Mark Zuckerberg. “They are concerned about the extent to which this access may have contributed to foreign intelligence work.”

According to an internal Facebook* document, more than 42,000 Russian developers, nearly 90,000 Chinese developers, and another 1,000 “high-risk” people from other countries accessed user data. The company itself admitted that the data could be used for spying.

*Belongs to Meta, which is considered extremist and banned in the Russian Federation.
