As an Apple Watch owner, you may have seen them before: red or green snakes. Visual alerts indicate something went wrong while charging the smart device. What can you do about it? We’ll walk you through the options in this article.

When you see a red snake on the screen of your Apple Watch, it means that the device is out of power. You can recognize the snake by a red lightning bolt (looks like a snake from afar) with a long USB cable attached. If you see this on the screen, you need to charge the Apple Watch.

There is also a green lightning bolt that you may encounter. Indicates that the watch has power, but little energy to power up. What can you do against both messages?

Repel Apple Watch snakes

The first solution we recommend is to use an official USB adapter from Apple. This is the kind of block you plug into the Apple Watch’s USB cable. Then you make sure that the smartwatch is supplied with enough electricity for charging.

Do not use third-party alternatives and do not plug the USB cable into a laptop or other port. Only use official Apple accessories. Also, be sure to charge the Watch for at least six hours before continuing to trade.

If that doesn’t work, check if another official cable gives a different result. It is possible for the cable to be broken internally for any reason. It can also help completely unload the Apple Watch.

Take it off your wrist and put it in the closet and don’t charge it for now. It may take up to a week for the system to completely drain. You can be sure the Clock is empty the moment those pesky snakes disappear. You can try to charge it once after it goes out.

Reset Apple Watch

Finally, you can try hard resetting the Apple Watch. You force the smartwatch to restart all internal systems, which may cause the problem to go away. You can do this while the Watch is on the charger.

To do this, press the crown and the power button for ten seconds. If all goes well, the screen goes black; then the smart watch turns off. Then the device turns on by itself. If that doesn’t help either, please contact Apple Customer Service as it could be something else.
