Samsung seems ready to deal with the recently announced Find N2 Flip, and more specifically, with one of the main features of this smartphone: its external screen. According to rumors from Ice UniverseSouth Korean company could sell in Galaxy Z Flip 5its next shell-shaped mobile phone, the outer panel of which is larger than that of the foldable Oppo.
Therefore, it is expected that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has an external screen larger than 3.26 inches, which matches the panel size of the Oppo Find N2 Flip. It will also be significantly larger than the Galaxy Z Flip 4, which is 1.6 inches. It’s not clear if Samsung will change the screen format and opt for a vertical panel, more like that of the Find N2 Flip, rather than the horizontal one included with the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
In any case, increasing the diagonal of the external screen may bring with it new software features, such as the ability to respond to notifications with quick replies. Apart from, of course, viewing additional information in the widgets that the company includes in this panel, such as playback or weather.
Galaxy Z Flip 5 may also receive another important novelty.
In parallel, Samsung may also do away with one of the biggest drawbacks of its foldable devices: tedious crease on the flexible screen. This is precisely due to its hinge, which flexes the panel, let’s say, more abruptly than the Oppo’s folding mechanism, where the screen flexes more gently, causing it to flex a little into the hinge.
So the South Korean company’s plan is to replace this more traditional hinge mechanism they’ve been using in their mobile phones for years with a “teardrop” shaped mechanism that this would make the crease in the panel not too noticeable. It is not clear, yes, whether this improvement will only reach the Galaxy Z Fold 5 or whether it will be present in the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Both smartphones could be announced in August if the company’s previous launches are taken into account. They can also come with better cameras, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, and a larger battery.
