OpenAI has implemented security measures in ChatGPT which prevent us from answering questions that mention a specific name. For some strange reason, the AI chatbot freezes when you type “David Mayer” and throws an error, forcing the user to start a new conversation window. The phenomenon was discovered this weekend by some users who took it upon themselves to find the answer.
It’s no secret that artificial intelligence companies like OpenAI or Google are developing language models to prevent unwanted behavior. These mechanisms exist to combat content that violates the usage policy, such as illegal activity or hate speech. In certain cases, such as Midjourney or Imagen, companies also do not allow models to recreate famous people.
The latter case may have been a mixture of both, although with a very strange result. ChatGPT cannot provide information about David Mayer.. If you enter this name in a request, the chatbot will not be able to respond and generates an error. Unlike content that violates the terms of use, the name does not generate a warning message and only blocks ChatGPT.

“I can’t answer” means an error box that cancels any further conversation. If the user clicks the Regenerate button or selects any of the response options, the chat will freeze again. The AI will also not respond to simple tricks like word substitutions, as the problem appears to be caused by the “David Mayer” character string.
Some users have gone further by trying to find the answer using coded questions, however ChatGPT cannot enter name.

The name in question may refer to David Mayer de Rothschildenvironmentalist and heir to the Rothschild fortune, one of the richest families in the world. David is the son of Evelyn de Rothschild, known as the banker to Queen Elizabeth II and much of the British royal family.
Unlike his father, David decided to give up luxury and focus on protecting the environment. Mayer has made documentaries about climate change and participated in extreme expeditions, such as sailing on boats made from plastic bottles. His foundation, Sculpt the Future, aims to educate new generations about the importance of caring for the environment.

The exact reasons why “David Mayer” generates an error in ChatGPT are unknown. Some users note that this is a software bug that prevents certain phrases from being processed. Others claim that it is content filter that blocks certain wordswhich is more feasible.
According to NewsweekName David Mayer could be a relative of the Chechen militant who used this alias.. It is likely that ChatGPT included it in its filters to block requests, as was the case with the names Brian Hood, Jonathan Turley, Jonathan Zittrain, David Faber and Guido Scorza.
