Except Apple Music and Spotify, Apple CarPlay now takes the control over the whole vehicle, by changing the infotainment interface and instrument panel. Of course, as long as the vehicle is of the new generation and is therefore equipped with all the necessary sensors to talk to the Apple operating system and the smartphone.
Apple showed a demo of its new platform during the WWDC 2022the event dedicated to developers (and where we also saw the new MacBook Pros among other things).
Until now, CarPlay allowed to integrate the iPhone with the car’s touchscreen. In a way, it allows you to project the contents of your smartphone, facilitate the management of phone calls or the control of music. But Apple has much more ambitious plans.
CarPlay has tomorrow access to all smart vehicle functions It can also be used to air conditioningthe windshield wipers, as well as real-time display i speed data of the vehicle, the kilometers traveled and so on.
Once activated, CarPlay completely transforms the interface of the vehicle systems. The user has full control over what he sees and can therefore – for example – customize the digital instrument panel with the widgets he wants, eliminating those he is not interested in.
The new user interface automatically adapts to the screen layout of all compatible cars. Which? Apple has shown several brands it has already partnered with: from Jaguar to Mercedes-Benz, via Volkswagen and Honda. The new Apple CarPlay will make its debut in the course of 2023.
